A classic encounter for any woodland setting are wolves. No forest would be complete without the threat of these vicious creatures come from the woods to snatch you away day or night. They make for a great scalable first encounter.
I looked for a long time for suitable 15mm wolves. I find that most places either make them a little to big, or they look like scruffy dogs. There is just something missing. Then I found these snow wolves from Ral Partha Europe’s Demonworld line.
In pewter I thought that the wovles looked a little funny, but as soon as I painted them their wolf like qualities came through. I painted these guys based on a picture of timber wolf I found. And I couldn't be happier with them.
I have already used these guys in a campaign, and I assuming that given the amount of wilderness I will be trekking through in Hymns of a Vagabond it will not be the last.
